    Reverence for Nourishment
    by Anne-Marie Fryer Wiboltt

Many people today perceive the food they eat as a certain amount of calories, minerals, vitamins, fats, proteins or carbohydrates. This technical information is useful in some ways and at the same time, it gives a very, very limited and narrow experience of the meal in front of us. When we see the world we live in and the food we eat mainly in materialistic scientific units, we neglect or eliminate rhythm, and beauty. Our hearts are robbed of awe and reverence towards all we are given as nourishment. These feelings are only allowed to emerge when we begin to perceive the meal completely differently.

Let us now take an imaginative walk on an autumn day. We can envision a field of wheat swaying like the sea in the wind under the blue and red evening sky. Mature and ready for harvest, its golden radiance sets the landscape aglow. Get closer and observe the tall, strong erect stem of each wheat grass. At the very top tightly packed sits a cluster of kernels each pointing toward the celestial sky.

Buy a small bag of whole winter wheat. Feel the hardness of the grains. Bite into them and taste the raw young wheat kernels. Smell the freshness of these golden treasures that have sustained humanity for ages. Who produces these wonderful golden grains? How and by what is this field of grains being created? Observing these stalks of grains in the field in our imagination, we get the feeling that along with the world of visible matter (the leaves, stalks and grains) invisible forces are at work in the process of growing this field of wheat.

If we hold the wheat kernel in our hands and “see” its potential – what it is to become if we planted it in our garden this spring– we will grasp a little of this invisible world. We will see with our mind’s eye, the golden brown seeds planted in the moist fertile ground, how they will sprout, set down roots and shoot up the first young green leaves. If we continue to 'see' the green wheat grasses developing into a mature golden field of wheat with withering stalks and leaves, then we have clearly seen the processes of growth and ripening. When we practice this way of seeing we develop a skill or an organ of perception with which we are able to perceive the invisible forces at work in nature. In this way it becomes possible to get to know the invisible world through clear imaginative thinking. We come to understand and really experience that we are eating so much more than 'carbs' or 'fiber'. When we sit down around the dinner table- to break bread together -our hearts are truly in awe with wonder and reverence for this beautiful magnificent world.

    Wheat Grass

    1 cup of whole wheat

    Baking pan size container,
    Potting soil
    Newspaper

Soak the wheat over night in water. The next morning drain off the water.
    Soak the newspaper in water.
Place the potting soil in the container and spread the wheat kernel evenly over the soil. Drain the newspaper and fold to fit the container. Place the folded wet newspaper on top of the grains and set the container in a warm, dark place for three days. Checking everyday to make sure the soil/paper is moist. Discard the newspaper and place the container in a windowsill. Watch the wheat grass grow tall and beautiful. It will make a beautiful center piece for the spring dinner table.

    Custodian Of The Earth
    Excerpt From Heart Mother Crone
Chapter Fifteen... Womb Of Wisdom, The Sacred Journey Of Menopause

Written & Illustrated by Roslyne Sophia Breillat

She embodies every Goddess, she embodies every woman, she embodies every star. She embodies the wise and beneficent spirit of her beloved Mother Earth. And she embodies the vast and mysterious spirit of the Universal Mother. She is lightness. She is darkness. She is protectress, creatress, matrix, matriarch. She is the womb of the heart, she is the heart of the womb, she is the giver of life. She is the beauty of wisdom. She is the serenity of grace. Her purpose is no longer to give life through giving birth, but to be the truth of life and to live the transformation of rebirth. She is the essence of power. She is holy and wholly woman. She is richly and essentially female. She is.

A man can sometimes fear the power of this wise woman, for she offers a depth of love that can only flower through fully living the divine truth of menopause. To meet her in this place, he must also experience profound transformation, healing and a willingness to find his essence reflected within her depths. The modern woman, alienated from her vast and mysterious truth of love, from her natural union with the earth, from the stillness of her female spirit, frequently experiences difficulty with menopause.

For her outer world has seduced her far from the subtlety and strength of her wise woman ways. Her feet teeter and swagger and sway above stiletto heels, above hard concrete, above hard asphalt, above the glorious earth that is her very support, the very essence of her being. Her toes have forgotten the blissful sensuality and the exquisite joy of merging with soft sand, with flowing water, with moist mud, with velvet grass. Her mind has forgotten the intuitive knowing of her heart and her womb has forgotten it is love. She is no longer grounded within the spirit of the earth. And she is no longer grounded within the compassionate wisdom of her womb. The culture she lives in, so obsessed with falsity, with superficiality, with materialism, with youth, so terrified of love, of death, so afraid of sacredness, of intimacy, of passion, of truth, denies her the rightful power and rightful place of the menopausal woman. And so she is denied the wise bounty, deep purpose and essential wisdom of this powerful transformation. Menopause is an ocean, a flame, a well, a depth, a volcano, a tornado, a dance, a flow, an inner death and rebirth that bestows new passion, new purpose, new maturity, new contentment, new joy, if fully lived from the heart. Menopause is a liberation of love, a deepening of truth, a fire of transformation. Like Kali, it destroys, like the Priestess, it initiates, like the Medicine Woman, it heals, like the Guru, it awakens. Menopause offers an exquisite presence of deeper wisdom, of deeper power, of deeper love.

Menopause offers woman with the gifts to live, every moment, as wise as the serpent, as gentle as the dove. Menopause shows her how to live in the world, but not of it. If she is willing to open, to trust, to surrender to the power of her wise and ancient knowing, this becomes her key to the portal of and peace and freedom when faced with the ignorant ways of the world. If she resists the offering of this new freedom of spirit, she will shrink and she will implode. She will doubt. She will stagnate. She will fear. She will hold her heart and her hands and her vagina and her womb tightly closed. She will not be able to open her eyes, her arms, her heart to the new life of transformation being offered to her. She will not be free to dance in the flames of new beginnings, to fly upon the outspread wings of change, to listen to the wise whisperings of her being, to the loving wisdom of Heart Mother Crone. She will not know the fulsome emptiness of inner silence. She will not know the sacred presence of the wild wise woman. She will not know who she is.

Listen to her heartbeat. Listen to her call. Listen to her silence. Listen to her stillness. Listen to her depth. Feel her pulse of life within your belly, within your yoni, within your womb, within your heart. Breathe her exquisite power and wisdom and beauty into these sacred places, long lost and repressed and forgotten by western civilisation, and yet so very much alive within you right now.

    Pussy-Cat, Get Ready to ROARRR!

    (Aquarius New Moon Ritual)

    by Kathy Crabbe

Lefty Oracle of the Month: Jules: a pussy-cat with a tiger-heart

    Mantra: I am independent.
Affirmation: My inner feline is ready to roarrr!
    Element: Earth

Jules is from my Lefty Oracle Deck and 92 page Guidebook.

    Aquarius New Moon Ritual

    You are here.
    You are present.
    You are awake.

    You are 3 in 1.
    Maiden/Mother/Crone.

You are earth, air, fire, water and spirit.

You are me and I am you.

Is your heart open to receiving?

    No fear,
    Just silence.

Be in that silence. Now picture either an angel, goddess, elf, fairy or mermaid guide who has come to help you. Ask them their name and become one with them for an instant, allowing yourself to be in their element: earth, air, fire, water. Allow this element to purify and revive you. Become one with that element and go forth and purify and revitalize your own space, your land, your city, country, world, universe. Extend out as little or as far as you like; knowing that you are safe, guided and protected by your guide and the elements.

When you are ready come back to the here and now and thank your Guide and Mama Moon for your Divine Being-ness. If feeling inspired, now would also be a good time to set your intention for the moonth ahead.

You  Are Loved: A Leo Full Moon Ritual
    by Kathy Crabbe

Dear Moon Muser, Thank you for joining me on this celebration of the Full Moon in Leo. Each month I channel inspiring material to help you celebrate the beauty and bounty of our world in a spiritually attuned, Earth Mother kinda way.
Full Moon in Leo Ritual by Kathy Crabbe

    Gentleness
    Heart
    Kindness

Meditate for a moment upon these 3 words. Then free associate what they mean for you specifically. If you have a Moon Journal then write it down in there.

Now, resonate with what that means for you. Just sit quietly with it, no stress, no strain. Then give yourself that kindness, gentleness and heart right now.

Sink, dive, BE in that feeling and knowing-ness for a moment or more.

In your Moon Journal draw a symbol and a word to acknowledge that feeling so you won't ever forget it. Then place that symbol and word (metaphorically) in your third eye and in your heart knowing and trusting that you ARE loved. Always.

    Blessed Be,
    Luv, Kathy Crabbe

Full Moon Lefty Oracle Card of the Month: Kattern is grace under pressure

    Mantra: I am mindful.

Affirmation: I am in perfect alignment with universal flow.

    Element: Fire

    Song
I am firmly rooted in the earth

and flying high in the sky.

My body and mind are present in the now.
    And my heart,

    my heart aches.

I embrace this ache as solace

    slowly, so slowly, returns.
    With grace I accept.

If this card appears in a reading it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ve got a whole lot goin’ on right now. In fact, in this oracle card Kattern appears to be holding up the sky all on her own, but the key word is ‘grace’. Although your world may be caving in on you right now, you have the fortitude and grace to carry on in style. Your feathers may feel ruffled and your world a shambles, but you do what you need to do without a big fuss or hissy fit. Things are NOT easy right now, but that too will change. So hang tight and wait for reinforcements; both divine and mundane.

In my own life this card symbolized my turning forty which felt like a rollercoaster ride of emotion that I was unprepared for and shake me up it did. I did my best to transform myself and my world by painting a series of divine feminine paintings on huge four foot by four foot canvases to let it all out, the pain, the sorrow, the joy, and it worked! I got those emotions safely out of me without too much damage control required. What a ride! But I kept my head and channeled the energy with grace and style; it was as messy as all get out, but a work of beauty in the end.

    Magnificent Morning
    by Anne-Marie Fryer Wiboltt

Inner radiance or light is an achievement; it is nothing that just happens. It begins with experiencing the feeling of gratitude and wonder of life. It begins with a real intimate relationship with nature and the bounty of food with which she graces us. The food we eat is created within her rhythms. These rhythms – the cycle of the day, the year and the hemispheric seasonal changes of the earth – belong to the life processes of the earth as well as to the spirit of the earth because the spirit of the earth lives and creates within these life processes. In my imagination the spirit of the earth is the spirit of Love.

The Age of Technology can become an age where we live our lives without rhythms. A life without rhythm is a life without Life. It is essential that we create a new and fresh relationship with the world and that can happen through the art of cooking. The living art of cooking awakens wonder for the abundance of nature in her beauty and polarities. It shows that the food we eat is created by active life forces imbued with special qualities and has different properties we consciously can make use of in our daily and medicinal cooking. We learn to continue nature’s creative processes in our own kitchen and to create artistically, well-balanced meals in harmony with each season. We are guided to the understanding that every selection of food, every cutting style and every cooking method have a different qualitative effect on our whole being, including how we feel and think. But this living art of cooking is more than an enjoyable, health-giving, creative activity.

The living art of cooking reaches toward the sacred within nature. It leads us on a path of wonder, gratitude and reverence. How do we, for example, create a meal in balance with the morning mood? Morning resembles spring time where the world seems to awaken and stir with new life. We feel the upward drawing forces of levity. In the eastern sky, the first light presses night away ever so gently. It is as if the goddess of dawn, in colors of magenta, is heralding the birthing of the sun. The dark, almost black horizon softens as the goddess draws after her a golden veil. What a magnificent moment when the first speck of light shows. As the earth awakens, lifting and breathing out it life forces we too experience, with certainty, the flow of creativity.

At mid-day the sun reaches its highest peak. Gazing down from on high the sun creates fewer and shorter shadows and less dramatic colors. Everything is bathed in bright light. Towards evening the earth draws in again. As the golden sun descends it changes into its red garments. The horizon darkens; soon nature and most of its creations will be resting. Dewdrops condense, and birds settle in the trees singing their last songs to the evening. We feel the pull of gravity, the downward moving forces, as we prepare to go to bed. We reflect on our day and harvest the experiences we gained. The stars make their appearance and rekindle awe of the magnificent universe that we are.

Creating beautiful, nourishing meals that resonate with the wisdom and harmony in nature is like living our lives as an open unfolding work of art. This art of cooking is the answer to the materialistic threats of our time and restores dignity of life.

    Spicy Kidney Beans
This spicy hot bean dish brings body heat to the surface. Substitute some of the spices with turmeric, ginger and black pepper.

1 cup kidney beans, cleaned, rinsed and soaked 8 hours
    3 cups cold water
3-inch piece of kombu sea vegetable
    4 tablespoons olive oil
    1/4 teaspoon oregano
    1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon crushed red chili pepper or a pinch of cayenne.
    1 onion, diced small
    1/2 stalk celery diced small
    2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
2 tablespoons fine cut parsley for garnish

Drain beans and discard soaking water. Place the beans in a pot or pressure cooker. Add water. Bring to a rapid boil and skim off any foam that arises. Add kombu, place the lid on the pot or pressure cooker.  If boiling the beans, let them simmer until completely soft. This may take 3-4 hours. Add water whenever necessary. Otherwise, pressure-cook beans for one hour over very low heat. Turn off heat and let pressure come down slowly, on its own.

Meanwhile, heat a big skillet. Add oil, and sauté spices and herbs quickly, then, add onions, and sauté for 2 minutes. Place lid on skillet and simmer for 20 seconds. Add celery and sauté a few minutes, before adding beans and enough cooking liquid for the bean dish to be saucy. Let it all simmer for 10 minutes.

Season the beans with tamari soy sauce and sea salt.  Garnish. Serve as part of a hearty winter breakfast.

    No Spring without Winter!
    by Anne-Marie Fryer

We just finished harvesting the fall vegetables from the garden beds. It is not long ago everything was growing vigorously. What has happened to the life of the garden? Where did all the life forces (or may I say fairies) go? The drawing in of life forces, begins in fall, continues through the beginning of winter and is completed as solstice approaches. These forces condense and stay active below the soil while on top of ground everything seems lifeless and asleep. In winter the sun is above the horizon for the shortest time, but the moon rises higher, staying in the night sky for many more hours than in the summer. In our garden seeds will soon cuddle cozily, under a blanket of snow, waiting for spring to arrive. We snuggle closer to the hearth as winter guides us into a quiet, inward mood of solitude and contemplation.

Springtime is the season of new begins. As the sun climbs higher in the sky we sense the earth exhaling anew ascending currents of life forces. We experience deeply the outward upward growth and opening feeling of renewal as a contrast to the withdrawing of life forces in winter. Through the interplay of the sun and the earth, nature’s power of growth intensifies and millions of tons of leaves and grasses are brought forth within weeks. The new life and vitality of spring fill us with jubilation and hope.

In summer the earth is breathing out its life forces completely. The sun is at its highest, bathing our world in warmth and light. The air feels full and expanded. The growth processes, begun in the spring, are now at their peak, ripening and maturing. The gardens and fields yield a cornucopia of fresh fruits and vegetables. This magical moods of summer penetrate us with enthusiasm and warmth while we dream the ‘Midsummer’s Dreams.’

With autumn approaching the days mellow. We experience the sun’s weakening influence on earth and the softening of the light. As the sun withdraws from the hemisphere the earth mother inhales with certainty the life forces back into her womb. Temperatures fall and growth processes slow down. Leaves fall from their branches and seeds drop to the ground. We bring the harvest to the root cellar and put the garden to rest. As winter draws nearer our thinking crystallizes, courage builds up and our sense of inner light strengthens.

During these coming winter month try to express the moods of each season through writing, drawing, painting, music, sculpturing or poetry. These delicious baked cinnamon apples will surely set the mood for the winter mood.

    Baked Cinnamon Apples

Cinnamon and apples go well together in this warming and relaxing dessert, suited for fall. Use a variety of apples and discover how they differ in sweetness and crunch.

    3 tablespoons walnuts
    4 apples
    1 tablespoon light miso
2 tablespoons freshly ground peanut butter (optional)
    2 tablespoons water
    1 tablespoon cinnamon

Soak the walnuts in lightly salted water 4-6 hours. Drain and chop them fine.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Core the apples with an apple corer or spoon. Make sure not to cut all the way through the apple.

In a small bowl mix the miso and peanut butter. Add water, cinnamon and chopped walnuts.

Spoon 1 tablespoon of the filling into each apple.

Place the apples in a baking dish. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until soft.

Naturally fermented and cultured foods are an exceptional way to prepare different ingredients and some of the most important side dishes and condiments in our diet. They are often overlooked or not mentioned when we describe what we had for dinner, and yet they are pivotal in creating a well-balanced, nutritious meal.

They increase the appetite, stimulate the digestion, and make any simple meal festive and satisfying. The course will be highly practical with many hands-on activities.

    to your home
    of homes

    "Be Good," you think
    NO
    Be still

    Submit to the darkness
    WINTER
    alone
    Blue
    Be happy
    You
    are You.
