Rosemary is for Remembrance with Susun and Gina
The grief of losing my entire goat herd is still sinking in. Each day the mourning seems deeper yet less painful. Reality, loss, emptiness, aching. I open as much as I am able to the waves of emotion, asking for love to fill the hollow.
Your love and your caring words – and flowers and images and music -- touch my soul and ease my grief. You help me keep moving forward.
Forward right now is honoring my precious consorts, my companions for most of my adult life, my beautiful and loving goats, who are incarnated most recently as: Isis, Astarte, Estrella, Baubo, Aurora, Tara, Adhiti, and Erishkegal the Second. (Shiva, the baby buck, has survived and is with kind and loving family who own goats of my line.)
Next weekend – June 27-28 – we will have the first public ceremony for them. You are welcome to come mourn with us, even if you can’t physically make it, by sending rosemary.
Our ceremony will be very simple: We will burn a pyre of rosemary atop the cairn where the goats lie. We will sing. We will walk on the land as though we were following the goats, and we will relive our happy memories of being with them.
Everyone is welcome to bring or send rosemary.
Send rosemary for remembrance to PO Box 64, Woodstock NY 12498.
Bring rosemary for remembrance on either Saturday or Sunday. We will ceremony both days at 11am.
Please respect our wishes and arrive only between 9:30-10:30 on either morning.
