Mushrooms

ree

Here's a fascinating article by a beloved sister who works with mushrooms.

She's focusing on lion's mane here,

but what she has to say about your gut

applies to every remedy, herbal or mushroom.

I don't agree with her about toxins.

We often argue about such details.

I don't understand her hatred for gluten.

Since more wheat is eaten in China than rice — think noodles —

I doubt that Chinese herbalists would agree with her that eating "glutinous grains" prevents the full effect of mushrooms.

"China is the world's biggest consumer of wheat."

Here's the link.

..

And these are the important parts:

> "Mushrooms [and herbs] contain biochemical compounds that act as signaling molecules in the brain and immune system – but they can't perform magic."

> "Taking mushroom extracts is like putting the wind at your back. To benefit, you have to be sailing in the right direction in the first place. This means eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with plenty of exercise, adequate sleep, and freedom from toxins and excess stress. For the mushroom to do its part, you must do yours."

> "Much of Lion's Mane's action is achieved in the gut, where beneficial bacteria ferment beta-glucans, producing postbiotic metabolites that affect the brain via the enteric nervous system. Also known as the "gut-brain axis," this is a bidirectional signaling pathway that travels from the intestines to the brain via the vagus nerve. This remarkable pathway depends on a healthy gut in order to function well. Without healthy gut bacteria, the full effects of the mushroom [or herb] may not be achieved."

It is in beauty.

Breathe in a giveaway dance with the plants.

Your heart beats as one with the heartbeat of the earth.

Green blessings surround us.
